LANGLEY TOWNSHIP - The Langley Trappers finally notched their first playoff win of the series, successfully defending the George Preston Centre on Tuesday night by defeating the Abbotsford Pilots by a score of 4-1. Three straight goals in the first period from Corbin Genge, Sloan Kelly, and Brandon Rexhepi were the difference maker in the third game of the best-of-7 series, which Langley now trails 2-1. A flurry of penalties assessed to the Trappers in the final five minutes of play did not phase the home team. Goaltender Kristian Lyon made a total of 52 saves in the win.

1st Period

The host team wasted no time to defend their home barn. 5:56 into the opening period, Trevor Sundher fed Corbin Genge (2) at the top of the circle to capitalize on the the Trappers’ first power play of the evening, with Brady Morton in the box. Langley continued to pile on offence as Sloan Kelly (1) had an unassisted tally at 8:14, and Brandon Rexhepi added his name to the scoresheet in the late stages at 18:28, with helpers from Michael Guzzo and Bradley Ewing.

However, Dustin Withrow was handed  with a game misconduct for a hit from behind with 32 seconds remaining in the frame.

3rd Period

The Pilots finally broke Kristian Lyon’s bid for a shutout at 15:13 of the third as Jared Pitkethly (1) sped up the right wing and roofed the puck over the left should of the Langley goaltender for an unassisted marker. But, Langley’s Tanner Komzak (1) put the game away at 18:59 with an unassisted empty net goal.
